Implants

Do you have one or more teeth that are missing? If so, you may be a candidate for dental implants. Implants are permanent artificial tooth roots that are placed into your jawbone by our in-office periodontist. The bone and gum will accept the implant and grow around it to hold it in place. They can support porcelain crowns that look and feel like natural teeth.

The Procedure

At our dentist office, we offer dental implant services with a team of experienced and qualified specialists. We use the latest technology and techniques to ensure a safe and successful procedure. Here are the steps involved in getting dental implants:

  1. Consultation and evaluation: During your first visit, we will examine your mouth, take X-rays and scans, and discuss your medical history and expectations. We will also explain the costs and benefits of dental implants and answer any questions you may have.
  2. Implant placement: During this step, we will numb your mouth and make a small incision in your gum to expose the bone. We will then drill a hole in the bone and insert the implant, which is a small titanium post. We will then stitch the gum and place a temporary crown over the implant. This step may take one to two hours per implant.
  3. Healing and osseointegration: This is the most important step, as it allows the implant to fuse with the bone and become a stable base for the crown. This process can take several months, depending on your individual healing rate and bone quality. During this time, you will need to follow our instructions on oral hygiene, diet, and medication.
  4. Abutment and crown placement: Once the implant is fully integrated with the bone, we will attach a small connector called an abutment to the implant. This will hold the crown, which is the artificial tooth that matches the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth. We will then take impressions of your mouth and send them to a dental lab, where your custom-made crown will be fabricated. Once the crown is ready, we will cement it to the abutment and adjust it for a perfect fit and function.
